Rebecca Walker (Whitaker?) 1860? Virginia J? William Nichols abt. 1882-3 Tenn. and Kentucky "Hello,

Rebecca's death cert. has her listed only as, Rebecca Nichols.
She died in Corbin,Ky.,Whitley Co. 4/27/1915

We have always been told that she is a Walker,
but her father was listed as: Willm. Whitaker.
Her mothers maiden was listed as: Rebecca Whitaker.

The only thing we can make of the absence of Walker is that the Coroner made a mistake and put Whitaker for her father instead of Walker.

Her birth date was given as: 4/27/1860, but her age was listed as, 65. If she was 65, then her birthdate had to be abt. 1849-50.

Her mothers place of birth was given as: Pulaski Co., but it did not say Kentucky, or Virginia.

Her and J.?W. Nichols married in the early 1880's. They had 2 children in Mississippi, the first, Dora (Murray) Nichols, 1883. Their 3rd child, William (Will) Nichols was born in Tennessee abt. 1885-6. After this, they moved to Kentucky, mostly around the Williamsburg, and Corbin area.

I sure hope someone can help us with this Mystery surrounding Rebecca.

Thank you,
Louise (Walters) Sherlock
Corbin, Ky." Louise Walters Sherlock lsher@bellsouth.net

? Ross Tennessee Tennessee "Her son, John Wesley Ross, was b. 1821 to 1828 in Tennessee. She met the father of her child while attending an Indian (Cherokee?) and he wrote books and travelled to Mississippi (Territory? County?) By 1850, her son John Wesley Ross was in Arkansas, married and had children. The father may have been McCollum, Cullem, Culley, Mulkey, McCully, McCauley, Holland Hollem, etc. I presume that she may have been young, although she may have been a school attendant. Catherine Jane Kirkpatrick 1881 Wetzel County ? Charles Ross Calvert Sept.5th 1896 "Wileyville,Wetzel County, WVa." "Catherine (Katie) Jane Kirkpatrick was born 1881 in or around Wileyville, WVa. Being that there are no records of the census for 1890 I haven't been able to find anything about her parents.
I have a letter written to her on Oct. 18th 1936 from Mary Kirk who calls her sister. Mary's Husbands name was William M. Kirkpatrick. Mary's maiden name was Knotts, they were married in 1891. Mary had a son Elias with the Knotts name for his last. To me this seems as if he might have been born out of wedlock. I am wondering if My Catherine might as well be there daughter or maybe Williams sister. In the 1900 census they had Williams brother living with them, B.M. Kirkpatrick. Also might have had a brother by the name of David who was in New Martinsville infirmary at the time of the letter in 1936. If anyone might know anything on this line please contact me. My Grandmother Jessie Virginia Joy Calvert once told me when asked that Katie's mother's maiden name was hawks or hawkins." D. Marcus Doviak dmdoviak@yahoo.com

Mary Louise Miller 1922 Berea Ky. Charles Moredock 1939 "Cincinnati, Ohio" "My Grandmother............
Mary Louise Miller/Moredock
Born in Berea Ky 1922
Mother - Ora Miller
Not knowing my Grandmother allows me to make her whatever I want, it also makes it all make believe.
Things must have been hard for her in her younger years. She married very young, I'm sure at that time she didn't expect to later find herself in Divorce Court with her soon to be Ex-husband. To make things even worse she had no means of taking care of her 3 children and seemed to have many personal problems at such a young age. My grandmother Mary Louise Miller/Moredock must have suffered with this for the rest of her life. So sad for her and so sad for our family to not have the Love of Togetherness as God had planned. Our family has suffered from not knowing our roots and not knowing Mary. I really do feel that Mary had a great Love for her children, unfortunately for all involved it wasn't the right time for her. We hope to someday find her or where her body may be placed to show her how much she is loved and always will be.

Please help me find my Granmother.
