Rachel Ball Bailey Crabb c. 1750 Virginia Edward R. Crabb "Berkeley County, Virginia" "Rachel and Edward lived along the Sleepy Creek in Berkeley County, Virginia (now Morgan County, West Virginia). It is not clear at this time if Edward was a junior or the senior most Edward--his father. Edward was born in Cornwall, England and moved to the colonies c. 1768. He homesteaded about 1,204 acres along the Sleepy Creek near Bath in Berkeley County. Our family records indicate that Rachel was a young widow who was born in Virginia. An 1801 land sale records her name as simply Rachel the wife of Edward Crabb. Our family notes indicate that her name may have been Rachel Ball Bailey. Several of Edward and Rachel's neighbors along the Sleepy Creek were named Bailey. Priscilla Crabb married, Edward's sister, married a neighbor named Shockey. John W. Crabb, son of Edward, married Hannah Tallman in 1800 right before the whole family imigrated to Ross & Pickaway County, OH. Edward was the suretor for their marriage bond. I am interested in locating Rachel and her family. She may have also had ties with family in Pennsylvania were she and Edward were married. If you have any information or you would like to join a group of cousins who are researching their matriarch, please contact me at curley_barb@hotmail.com. Rachel was my third great grandmother and I have a great deal of information to share on this Crabb family." Barb Curley curley_barb@hotmail.com
