Virginia A. Ethridge 1835 Georgia Isaac Tinney 1853 "Tallapoosa Co., Alabama" "Virginia is said to be of the Marmaduke Ethridge family but nothing has been found to know that for sure. Isaac & Virginia are listed in the 1860 Tallapoosa Co., Al. census with their children. After Isaac's death in 1864, Virginia took the children to the Chantilly Plantation to live as did lots of other widows of the Civil War. They lived there until the late 1890's and then took a trip to see her son thought to be living in Arizona at the time. Virginia died before reaching her destination and is buried at the Northern end of the Cornudas Mtns. on the Texas/New Mexico border. We found her grave in May 1999. Nothing is known of Virginia. There is a Sarah Ethridge (widowed or divorced)listed in the 1855 census of Tallapoosa with a daughter living at home that was mentally retarted. Some have suggested that this may be Virginias mother as she may have stayed close to her to help with her sister. This is the only time Sarah appears that I found. Any help would be appreciated." Charlotte Gilmore 1894 "St. Louis, Missouri" Philip Burbank 1927 "Missouri, Arizona" "I am looking for any info on the Gilmores of St. Louis, Missouri. My grandmother was Charlotte Elizabeth Gilmore, born in 1894, in St. Louis. I know very little about her family.
She had a sister who became a nun, Sister Julia, as well as an aunt or cousin, Sister Stephanie.
She had brothers, but I can only remember a few names -Henry or Harry, George, and John. She also had a sister that died in infancy, Allagunda, and possibly another sister named Florence.
Grandma said she was Pennsylvania Dutch & Irish. I know that her mother was from Ireland, as I believe Sister Stephanie was. She had mentioned that a relative, possibly her grandfather, had died in a shipwreck.
Apparently there was a fire in the St. Louis courthouse in the early 1900's & most records have been destroyed. The only bit of family info I have been able to find is Allagunda's death notice.
I'd sure appreciate any info that anyone could share.
