Mary Mahan unknown New York unknown unknown "Cazenovia/Sullivan, NY census " "Mary Mahan, daughter of a William Mahan and Helen/Ellen Driscoll Mahan (parents born in Ireland). Mary's brother, John Mahan b. 5 July 1827 in New York.
This family lived near Cazenovia, NY, John left at 13 years of age, never to return. Family information concerning the parents, and Mary Mahan has been lost over the years; although a newspaper article from Cazenovia, NY in March 1849 issue writes of the death of a William Mahan from a drowning in the lake below the Mill in Cazenovia, NY. Emeline Williams was the widowed mother of the head of household, George Williams who was married to Medella and they had a son (unnamed a couple of months old.) Emeline may have been the mother of Maria Estelle Williams who was married to Lucius D. Smith. Maria was born in 1853 and married in 1873. She and her husband lived first in Oneida Co, NY and then moved to Sleightsburg, Ulster Co., NY. A woman, Emeline Williams, was buried in the family grave plot in Riverview Cem, Port Ewen, Ulster Co, NY, so these Emeline's were probably the same person.
